Human trafficking is modern day slavery: the trade of humans for forced labor or sexual exploitation in any manner. It is the world’s fastest growing criminal industry and grosses billions of dollars annually. Human trafficking is a process of enslaving people, coercing them into a situation with no way out; there are more people enslaved today than ever in history before.
Although trafficking for sexual exploitation gets more attention, most people that are entrapped in trafficking are those who are forced into labor exploitation. Most victims that fall into trafficking are people that are wanting to escape poverty, improve their lives, and support their families. They tend to be more vulnerable and desperate for a change.
